Marc van der Heijde (1969) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design St. Joost in Breda, The Netherlands. Working as a graphic designer and project leader at various studios, he joined Studio Dumbar in 2006 and became Design Director two years later. Established in 1977, the studio has offices in Rotterdam and Shanghai. The agency created the identities for many famous brands including KPN, TNT Post, the Dutch Police, Marlies Dekkers and Randstad Recruitment Agency. Studio Dumbar was also commissioned to develop the visual identity of the Dutch National Government - a unique project covering all ministeries and 175 other organisations.
Other projects include the much-debated posters for Amsterdam Sinfonietta, a wayfinding programme for the new headquarters of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, a three-year series of annual reports for Shell, and the identity and public furniture for a newly built city in South Korea.
Marc has won Red Dot Awards and European Design Awards for C (Broadcasting organisation for art and culture) and the Dutch Chamber Choir. He has been the graduation's external expert of Graphic Design Departments in Rotterdam and Breda, and has given lectures at Dutch academies and at conferences abroad.
